Lilian Kranenburg moderates debate following screening of Crocodile in the Yangtze
Lilian Kranenburg of ChinaMoves was asked by Cinemasia to moderate a debate about internet giant Alibaba, its impending IPO and the significance of Alibaba to the internet industry on the back of the screening of Crocodile in the Yangtze. The screening came about thanks to the collaboration between CinemAsia, CRTV and China Talk.
Panel members were financial investment and economic experts: Kees de Kort, Markets- and macro-analyst regular commentator on BNR, Wim Zwanenburg, lead investment strategist for Stroeve & Lemberger and commentator on BNR Newsradio, Vicky Chi Senior Asia analyst at ROBECO Emerging Markets, and e-commerce expert on China Ed Sander of China Talk. The evening was preceded by a lively and informative introduction by Ed Sander on China’s internet portals including a brief tailored online message to the audience at the delightful Pakhuis de Zwijger in Amsterdam, by Porter Erisman, the director of Crocodile in the Yangtze.
The movie was shown for the second time in Holland and had been reviewed in Dutch by Lilian Kranenburg following its maiden sneak preview in Utrecht in December 2013 at the Guanxi.nu China Cafe. The house was packed with 130 attendants. Panel members enjoyed the movie – everyone agreed it painted a remarkable picture of the rise of a company, that 15 years ago was founded by Jack Ma who than earned $12 a month with teaching English.
